ETC. AUSTIN WINS 1ST TENNIS COMEBACK MATCH

Grateful for another chance to play tournament tennis at age 30, Tracy Austin pulled out an erratic victory in her first match in four years. Austin defeated Australian Rennae Stubbs 7-5, 6-4 in a first-round match at the Evert Cup in Indian Wells, Calif. "I was nervous, but I was also very eager to take on the challenge," she said. "It's wonderful to win your first match."

Kraft General Foods has decided not to continue its agreement with the women's professional tennis tour, also ending Virginia Slims' sponsorship of the tour's international ranking system.

Kraft General Foods, a division of Philip Morris, has been the tour sponsor since 1989, while Virginia Slims, a Philip Morris cigarette brand, has been involved in women's tennis for more than 20 years. Both sponsorship agreements expire after the 1994 season.
