OBIT JOHNSON, DORIS J.

JOHNSON, Doris J., 53, of Roanoke, died Monday, February 22,1993 in a local hospital. She was formerly employed by Atlantic Mutual Company. She was a member of the Beta Delta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a philanthropic Sorority for 20 years and was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross, Trust, S.P.C.A., Center in the Square, and the Mill Mountain Zoo. She was preceded in death by her father, J. Donald Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Renee Grubb and her husband, Tony of Roanoke; mother, Lena C. Johnson of Roanoke; sister, Susan J. Garland and her husband, Keith of Roanoke; nephews, Martin C. Routt, David Gregory Routt, K. Blair Garland Jr.; and her beloved friend, Conley Dowell and his son, C.J. A funeral service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth G. Stofft officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
