Florida company buys Channel 21/27Fox television station WJPR (Channel 21/27) in Roanoke has been purchased by Milton Grant of Grant Broadcasting System II Inc. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Tampa-based Roanoke-Lynchburg TV Acquisition Corp., said Robb Gray, the station's vice president and general manager.
It won't change the programming much, he said.
Grant owns two other Fox affiliates, in Iowa and Alabama, which have comparable markets and programming to WJPR's, Gray said.
Roanoke-Lynchburg owners Thomas Carney, a doctor in Bal Harbor, Fla., and Henry Ash, who owns other broadcasting properties around the country, decided to split their interests because of professional and personal differences.
