EX-RICHLANDS PLAYER TOP SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
The College Football Association and Hitachi Ltd. announced that Richlands High School will receive a $1,000 contribution in honor of Mike Compton, a Richlands alumnus and West Virginia University center who was named to the Hitachi/CFA Scholar-Athlete team.
Compton, a senior, has a 3.5 grade-point average and was selected an academic All-American.
\ North Carolina will open its 1993 college football season playing in the Pigskin Classic against Southern California, school officials announced Wednesday night. The game is scheduled for Aug. 29 in Anaheim, Calif.
