RADFORD MAN CHARGED WITH ABDUCTION, SEXUAL BATTERY

A 24-year-old Radford man has been charged in the abduction and sexual battery of a 21-year-old woman.

City police said Matthew Whyte, 24, of the 400 block of Sanford Street was charged Tuesday after investigating a complaint by the woman that she was held against her will on Feb. 18.

Commonwealth's Attorney Randal Duncan said the woman said she was physically restrained from leaving as residence. The woman was acquainted with Whyte's roommate, Duncan said.

Duncan said the woman was not injured.

Whyte is scheduled to appear in Radford General District Court on April 12.
