GRANT WILL PROVIDE WOMEN'S SCHOLARSHIPS

Virginia Intermont College will get a $46,000 grant from the Lettie Pate Whitehead Foundation to provide scholarships for Southern women in need of financial assistance.

The foundation was established in memory of Whitehead, whose husband, Joseph, founded the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Co. She was a director of the Coca-Cola Co. for nearly 20 years after her husband's death.
