COLLISION IN TAZEWELL KILLS BLAND WOMAN

The victim of a fatal accident Monday night in Tazewell County has been identified as an 18-year-old Bland woman.

State police said a car driven by Rachel Marie Sparks of Bland collided with a pickup truck driven by Stephen Lowe of Bishop when the truck apparently slid on some ice on Virginia 61.

The accident happened about 10:45 p.m. Sparks was pronounced dead about an hour later at Tazewell Community Hospital.
