OBIT BURTON, BENJAMIN, H. JR. ("SHORTY")

BURTON, Benjamin, H. Jr. ("Shorty"), 68, of Narrows, died Tuesday, February 23, 1993, in the Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg. He was born in Monogahela, Pa. on June 13, 1924 and was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Georgia Allen Palmer Burton. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Narrows, where he had served on the Board of Deacons and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a retired employee of the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant at Narrows. He is survived by his wife, Marian Evans Burton, Narrows; two daughters, Barbara B. Jenkins, Fredericksburg, Connie B. Willis, Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Emma B. Smith, Eustis, Fla.; a niece, Nancy S. Harvey, Eustis, Fla.; brother, James Burton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows, with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. The family will meet their friends at Riffe's Funeral Home in Narrows, Thursday evening from 6 until 8.
