METER READER A GREAT HELP IN TIME OF NEED
Dear Neighbors:I am, by way of scarce availability, a subscriber to Appalachian Power Co. Recently, we had some very nice weather for the month of January. Consequently the kids were at the park on Mountain Meadow Drive, enjoying their Christmas vacation.
I was outside cutting my grass when my son, Matthew, came to me and screaming, "Mike is bleeding to death at the playground!"
A licensed practical nurse and ex-Green Beret medic, I thought if something was wrong, maybe I could help.
I drove hurriedly to the playground to find an 8-to 10-year-old boy with a not so serious laceration on his forehead. I had nothing in my car to treat lacerations, but this true gentleman from Apco was standing by and asked if he could help.
He said he had a first aid kit, and I was able to effectively clean the wound and dress it until his mother arrived.
Thanks! Jeff Richards, Apco meter reader. You're truly an attribute to Appalachian Power Co. It's a pleasure to have worked with you in a time of another human being's need.\ Bob Karnes 301 Mountain Meadow Drive Vinton
