BYRD WINS VALLEY TROPHY FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING

William Byrd Middle School wrestling team recently won the championship trophy during the second annual Roanoke Valley Invitational at Northside High School.

Seven junior high and middle schools participated in the tournament.

The Byrd team scored 211 1/2 points and had eight wrestlers in the finals. Five of them won.

Northside Junior High, with 174 points, earned the runner-up trophy. Northside had seven wrestlers in the finals, and four won.

Other teams participating and their score were: Franklin County, 156; Cave Spring, 123 1/2; Hidden Valley, 92 1/2; Botetourt Intermediate, 80 1/2; and Glenvar, 70.
