New support group for heart patients forms

Heart to Heart, a new support group for people who have had a heart attack or coronary heart disease will hold its first meeting tonight at 7 in the Lewis-Gale Hospital cafeteria.

The group is sponsored by the American Heart Association.

Dr. William Rutherford Jr., a cardiologist, will be guest speaker for the organizational meeting. He will discuss "Current Treatment of Myocardial Infarction in 1993."

Scholarship foundation elects new officers

Ron Dingler has been elected president of the E. Price Ripley Memorial Foundation, an educational, non-profit organization that awards scholarships to high school students based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need.

Courtney Hoge was elected vice president. Other officers are: Inez Ripley, secretary; and W. Bruce Overstreet, treasurer; Roger Anglin, Robert T. Barham Jr., C. Mack Clark, Joseph H. Gwinn, Sam McNeil, Deborah A. Oehlschlaeger, William E. Reichelt and Rex N. White, all board members.
