BOWLER ROLLS 300

Vernon Hitchcock was "feeling pretty good" Thursday night, and for good reason.

Hitchcock bowled his first 300 game while participating in the Commercial League at Hilltop Lanes in Roanoke.

Hitchcock, 26, rolled games of 199 and 186 before reaching perfection. He carries a 198 average in the league.

The closest Hitchcock had ever come to a 300 game in five years of competitive bowling was three months ago, when he rolled a 289.

Thursday night, he said he wasn't very nervous, "just on the last ball."
