CURTIS, Rubye Preston, 79, of 937 Lake Drive, Bedford, died Thursday, February 25, 1993, at her home. She was born in Huddleston, Va., on August 16, 1913, a daughter of the late William Thomas Preston and Fleeta Mae Ashwell Preston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Watkins Curtis; one daughter, Bettye Curtis Galyean and one brother, Warren Preston. She is survived by one daughter, Julia Curtis Cock, Bristol, Tenn.; three sisters, Willie Mae Gates, Blacksburg, Lois Preston Silvey, Blacksburg, Marie Preston Schools, Hershey, Penn.; six grandchildren, James Rudolph Galyean, Thomasville, N. C., Cecilia Galyean Willis, Roanoke, Jill Galyean Andrews, Kemper Houston Galyean, Roanoke, Julia Galyean Bourne, Galax, Glenn Douglas Cock, Bristol, Tenn.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 27, 1993 at 2 p.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
