PULASKI MAN IS SENTENCED TO 25 YEARS ON SEVERAL CHARGES
A Pulaski man was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery, malicious wounding and breaking and entering while armed with a deadly weapon. The charges against Lawrence Andrew Calloway, 29, of Fourth Street stemmed from two separate incidents, according to Everett Shockley, commonwealth's attorney.
On July 17, Calloway approached Kristopher K. Bentley as he was cleaning his car on Madison Avenue. Shockley said Calloway asked Bentley for half the money he saw in a cup full of change.
"When his request was refused, Calloway, who was holding his hand under his bib overalls as though he had a gun, told Bentley to either give him the money or he would kill him," Shockley said in a news release.
Bentley gave the man the money and he left, Shockley said.
The second incident occurred Oct. 4, when Calloway forcibly entered his former wife's apartment while armed with a knife.
She was stabbed in the shoulder as she tried to get away from him and spent several days in Pulaski Community Hospital, Shockley said.
