MAKEUP DAYS SET FOR TRASH COLLECTION

The snowstorm hampered garbage collection in Salem and Roanoke on Friday, but Roanoke County stayed a day ahead of the snow and ice.

In Salem, snow halted garbage pickup. In Roanoke, crews covered part of Friday's routes, but were unable to pick up trash in several areas normally served on Fridays.

In the county, no trash is collected on Friday.

If weather permits today, Salem will pick up garbage on the routes normally served on Friday. If streets are icy, the garbage will be collected Sunday.

In Roanoke, garbage will be collected Monday in three areas:

West of Guilford Avenue to the city limits and south of Tillett Road to Livingston Road Southwest.

West of Wasena Avenue to Dudding Street and from Windsor Avenue and Bluemont Avenue north to Maiden Lane, Westover Avenue and Memorial Avenue Southwest.

B

West of Fishburn Park to the city limits and from Creston Avenue north to Brambleton Avenue and Oak Crest Street Southwest.

James McClung, city solid waste manager, said garbage in several other areas that could not be served also will be collected Monday.
