SMITH, James Wilbert, 78, of Copper Hill, died Thursday, February 25, 1993
in a Salem hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annalene. He was a
retired carman of Norfolk & Western Railroad. He is survived by one daughter
and son-in-law, Nancy and Nelson Vest, Copper Hill; two sons and
daughters-in-law, Larry and Bettye Smith, Copper Hill, Mark and Ginny Smith,
Roanoke; four grandchildren, Cindy and Kevin Poff, Roanoke, Lori and Jay
Trout, Roanoke, Kristi and Traci Smith, Copper Hill; one great-granddaughter,
Ashley Poff; two sisters, Myrtle Curran, Clearwater, Fla., Ocie Smith,
Titusville, Fla.; six brothers, Sherman Smith, Robert Smith, R. B. Smith, Raye
Smith, all of Copper Hill, Sam Smith and Herbert Smith, both of Roanoke.
Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m. March 1, 1993 at Copper Hill Church
of the Brethren with Rev. Douglas Jones officiating with interment in Restvale
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. both Saturday and
Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd. Memorials in his memory may be made to
Bent Mountain Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Drawer B, Bent Mountain, Va. 24059.
