OBIT HUFFMAN, EDWARD BOLIVAR SR.

HUFFMAN, Edward Bolivar Sr., 66, of Lexington, died Wednesday, February 24, 1993 at his residence. He was born in Rockbridge County, March 8, 1926, the son of the late Ezra Grover and Nettie Johnston Huffman. He was a retired agent with Nationwide Insurance Company, and Elder and member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, past president of the Effinger Ruritan Club, past president of Lexington Kiwanis Club, past chairman of Lexington-Rockbridge Democratic Committee, past member of Rockbridge County Public Service Authority and was a veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in the Philippine Islands. Surviving are his wife, Hazel W. Huffman, Lexington; one son, Edward Bolivar (Ward) Huffman Jr., Lexington; one stepson, Stanley D. Heizer, Covington; one sister, Isabel H. Leech, Lexington; four brothers, Julian J. Huffman, Lexington, Venable M. Huffman, High Point, N.C., Chester I. Huffman, Charles City, E. G. Huffman, Lexington; two grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Olewine, both of Covington. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery, Saturday, February 27, 1993, at 2 p.m. with Dr. L. Randolph Harrison and Rev. Barton Hellmuth officiating. The family suggest contributions be made to the Rockbridge Area Hospice, P.O. Box 948, Lexington, Va. 24450 or the American Cancer Society, Rockbridge Community Unit, P.O. Box 100, Lexington, Va. 24450. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
