CAVS ESCAPE WOLFPACK 76-75

Heather Burge had 26 points and 16 rebounds as No. 11-ranked Virginia narrowly escaped North Carolina State 76-75 Saturday.

Virginia (21-5 overall, 13-3 ACC) led 34-33 at halftime but couldn't pull away despite a 43-26 rebounding advantage for the game. One reason the Wolfpack (14-12, 8-8) could stay close was sloppy play by the Cavaliers, who had 24 turnovers to just 13 for North Carolina State.

Dena Evans added 18 points for Virginia, and Charleata Beale scored 11.

Danyel Parker led North Carolina State with 28 points and seven rebounds. Tammy Gibson scored 14 and Krissy Kuziemski 11. \

Sara Larsen and LaSaundra Siddle each added 10 points for Radford (14-10, 12-4).

Tacha Woods led Liberty (14-11, 9-6) with 22 points and nine rebounds.

Radford clinched second place in the regular-season conference standings behind UNC Greensboro. The Highlanders play host to the Big South Tournament on March 10-13. \
