COAL FIRM FILES CHARGES AGAINST STRIKING UMW

Eastern Associated Coal Corp. has filed charges against striking United Mine Workers with the National Labor Relations Board, an official said Saturday.

The charges were filed Friday with the board's regional director in Cincinnati against UMW Local 7604 for actions at the company's Kopperston mine in Wyoming County, Eastern Associated President Peter Lilly said.

The UMW has been on a selective strike against St. Louis-based Peabody Holding Co. since Feb. 2.
