CLEMONS ROLLS 300 IN CITY-COUNTY TOURNEY
Alan Clemons of Roanoke rolled his second competitive 300 Saturday in the men's Roanoke City-County tournament. Clemons' perfect game helped him and Ken Taft of Roanoke take the lead in the doubles competition at Hill Top Lanes.Clemons, a 29-year-old surveyor, had his first 300 on Nov. 22, 1992, and almost could see the second one coming.
"I was bowling pretty good - the first two games were 243 and 233 - and the scorekeeper said she'd like to see a 300," he said. "I just went ahead and did it. Everything was good. The last ball was a little bit light, but it scattered the pins."
Clemons has been bowling for 15 years and is a member of three leagues in the Roanoke Valley.
Team competition is taking place this weekend at Lee-Hi Lanes.
