OBIT ANDERSON, DR. NATHANIEL WILLIAM
ANDERSON, Dr. Nathaniel William, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, February
25, 1993. He was born November 23, 1918 in Coalwood, W.Va., the son of the
late George Woodson Anderson and Hattie Bell Brown Anderson. He was a retired
educator from the Maryland Department of Education. Preceding Dr. Anderson in
death were two sisters, Emma Vaughn and Jessie Brown. Surviving are five
daughters, Mrs. Helen Marie Anderson Paige, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Lucy Anderson
Taylor, Roanoke, Mrs. Jannett Anderson Reed, Teaneck, N.J., Mrs. Janice
Anderson Miller, Ocean, N.J., Mrs. Martinia Anderson Granger, Roslyn, Pa., a
number of grandchildren, five nephews, Norman C. Ruffin, resided at same
address, Charles L. Nichols, Bernard J. Brown, both of Roanoke, William
Turpin, Levi Haynes, both of Columbus, Ohio; five nieces, Mrs. Bernice B.
Davis, Lynchburg, Mrs. Louise B. Coles, Mrs. Glenora B. Alexander, both of
Roanoke, Mrs. Samantha T. Miles, Bridgeport, Conn.; Mrs. Edith T. Charleston,
Columbus, Ohio; great-nephews, great-great-nephews, great-nieces,
great-great-nieces and a union of relatives and friends. Funeral services will
be conducted 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 1993 from Greater Mount Zion Baptist
Church. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. Friends may call at
Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, March 5, 1993 and at the
Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, where the family will be from 7 to 8:30
p.m. Friday, March 5, 1993.
