OBIT MEADOWS, VERNA GARTEN
MEADOWS, Verna Garten, 83, of Radford, died Friday, February 26, 1993. She
went home to be with Jesus. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She
was preceded in death by one daughter, Vivian Phillips. Survivors include her
husband, Harvey H. Meadows of Radford; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs.
Danny (Iris Ann) Baker of Miami, Okla., Mrs. Robert (Linda) Ratcliffe of
Belspring, and Mrs. Charlie (Jacque Marie) Akers of Blacksburg; two brothers,
Earl Garten of Hinton, W.Va., and Ray Garten of Rainelle, W.Va.; three
sisters, Ms. Glenna Garten and Mrs. Beulah Hedrick, both of Hinton, W. Va.,
and Mrs. Nora Hicks of Kernersville, N. C.; nine grandchildren, Debbie Viers,
Gary Phillips, Doug Phillips, Jeanie Holley, Robert Ratcliffe, Susan Stike,
Baudi Ratcliffe, Lisa Alley, and Heather Yeoman; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist
Church with the Rev. Grady Green and the Rev. Larry Perry officiating.
Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin. The family will
receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Monday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins
Funeral Home in Radford.
