OBIT WARD, ROBERT LANDON
WARD, Robert Landon, 78, of Route 1, Wirtz, died Saturday, February 27,
1993. He went home to be with the Lord. Mr. Ward was a member of Rehoboth
United Methodist Church and owned and operated the Steak House Motel in Rocky
Mount for many years. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Richard L.
Spicer and Mark Douglas Ward. Surviving are his wife, Dora Frances Ward; two
sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas L. and Brenda J. Ward of Salem, Larry
"Charlie" and Cynthia L. Ward, Roanoke; five daughters and three sons-in-law,
Peggy W. Hegler of Lancaster, S.C., Jenny W. Anderson of Collinsville, Susie
and Doug P. Hodges of Wirtz, Linda C. and H. Frank Young of Rocky Mount, and
Cathy L. and Ronald M. Russell of Hardy; 14 grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harry E. Ward, Edinburg, Va., Garnet L.
Ward, Glen Bournie, Md., and Sam L. Ward, Woodstock, Va. Funeral services will
be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 1993, at the Arrington-Bussey Funeral
Chapel with Pastor Bob Andrews and Pastor Ira F. Tolliver officiating. Burial
will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends
Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arrington-Bussey Funeral Home, Rocky Mount.
