DECEMBER HOME SALES INCREASED
Home sales for December 1992 were up 4 percent over the same period last year, according to numbers released by the Virginia Association of Realtors."I think these figures are an excellent indicator of the recovering economy," Edward E. Pagett, president of the VAR, said. "With the change in the national administration, it seems there is renewed hope that the American Dream of home ownership is attainable. People are beginning to realize that there is no time like the present to purchase a home."
According to numbers released in mid-February, 3,456 homes were put under contract in Virginia in December compared to 3,310 during the same month in 1991. The year-end sales numbers, 63,866 in the state, were up 8 percent over the 1991 year-total of 58,925.
