OBIT GRANT, IRMA STIFF
GRANT, Irma Stiff, 85, of Thaxton, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 1993,
in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 29, 1907 in Bedford
County, a daughter of the late John W. Stiff and Callie Holdren Stiff. She was
owner and operator of Grant's Grocery and was a member of the Thaxton Baptist
Church, where she was a member of the choir for many years. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Roy E. Grant. She is survived by a daughter and
son-in-law, Eloise and Herbert Grubb, Thaxton; a brother, John W. ("Buck")
Stiff; a sister, Edith S. Madison, all of Thaxton; two grandsons, Earl Grubb,
Thaxton, Robert Grubb, Roanoke; two great-grandchildren, two
stepgreatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 2,
1993 at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Michael
DuVal and Rev. K. Adams. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The
family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Chapel,
Bedford.
