OBIT HUFFMAN, STANLEY A. JR.

HUFFMAN, Stanley A. Jr. 63, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, March 30, 1993. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia. Prior to his retirement, he was the director of the Learning Resources Center and Distance Learning at Virginia Tech. He also served on the faculty at East Tennessee State University, West Virginia University and Ohio University. He was the president of the Humane Society of Montgomery County, a charter member and advisor to Alpha Phi Omega, Zeta Beta Chapter at Virginia Tech, and recipient of the 1992 APO Distinguished Service Award. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserve. He was the producer of the television series, Using Media for Learning, broadcast nationally and internationally, served on the board of directors of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, was a past president of the Virginia Educational Media Association, and the author of Instructional Media. He is survived by his wife, Doris H. Huffman; a daughter, Jane L. Huffman, Raleigh, N.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley A. and Rosie K. Huffman, of Roanoke; Frank J. and Kelli L. Huffman, Falls Church; and two grandchildren, Allison and Jennifer Huffman, Roanoke. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, 1993 from the Blacksburg United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Herbert G. Hobbs with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Humane Society of Montgomery County, P.O. Box 287, Blacksburg, VA 24060 or to the Alpha Phi Omega, Zeta Beta Chapter Outreach Fund, Box 1011, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 24063. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.
