OBIT-COMER, EARNEST NELSON

COMER, Earnest Nelson, 79, of Route 3, Bedford, died Wednesday, March 31, 1993, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on May 13, 1913, a son of the late Samuel Moore Comer and Mary Elizabeth Dillon Comer. He was a retired employee of both Hampton Looms of Virginia and Bedford Weaving Mills, and was a member of Quaker Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Arthur Comer; two sons, Nelson G. Comer, Lynchburg, Gene C. Comer, Roanoke; four daughters, Earnestine C. Stevens, Dale A Comer, both of Bedford, June C. Surface, Goldsboro, N. C., Dorothy M. Comer, Rocky Mount; a brother, Clarence M. Comer, Bedford; two sisters, Virgie C. Arthur, Ruth C. Arthur, both of Bedford; three grandchildren, William Comer, Daniel J. Surface, and Katie J. Surface. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 3, 1993, at 1:00 p.m. at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Clayton C. Riggs and the Rev. Lewis R. Garst officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests those wishing to make memorials consider the Moneta Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
