SPECIAL OLYMPICS APRIL 17 AT BOBCAT STADIUM
The Area Nine Special Olympics spring games will be held April 17 at Bobcat Stadium at Radford High School.
About 200 athletes from the New River Valley and surrounding areas will compete in the one-day event.
Included will be a 10-meter assisted walk; 100- and 400-meter race walk; 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-meter runs; four-by-100 meter relay; standing long jump; running long jump; shot put; softball throw; pentathlon; wheelchair events; and motor activities training program.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. The opening ceremonies start at 9. Events run 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., followed by the closing ceremonies.
Anyone interested in volunteering should register at the high school by 8:30 a.m. or call 231-3122.
