2 SAY NO TO DELEGATE RACE 6 2 RACE RACE

Montgomery County Supervisor Jim Moore says he's out.

So does Blacksburg lawyer Joe Painter.

Moore said Friday he's no longer pondering a run for the Democratic nomination for this fall's 12th District House of Delegates race.

Painter, too, said he will not be seeking the Republican Party's nomination to contest the seat.

Painter said he was not ruling out any future political races.

The 12th District seat is being vacated by Blacksburg Democrat Joan Munford, who announced last month that she is retiring after a dozen years in the state General Assembly.

Munford on Thursday endorsed Blacksburg veterinarian Jim Shuler for the nomination.

Other people who have said they are interested are Cynthia Massie of the Prices Fork section of the county and Blacksburg lawyer Joe Steffen.

Other Republicans who have expressed an interest are Pat Cupp, a Blacksburg Realtor; Ray Chisholm, a Blacksburg civil engineer; and George Bell, a Blacksburg investment counselor.
