BRIDGEWATER PRESIDENT TO RETIRE AFTER 30 YEARS

Wayne F. Geisert, president of Bridgewater College since 1964, said Friday that he will retire late next year.

Geisert, 71, told the board of trustees his health is good and he still enjoys his work. However, he said, "I know I must step out of my current role."

The exact date of Geisert's retirement has not been determined. Board Chairman W. Wallace Hatcher said a search committee will be formed to look for a successor.

"At the time of his retirement, Dr. Geisert will have been Bridgewater's chief executive officer for more than 30 years," Hatcher said.
