TECH WINS 9TH STRAIGHT
Virginia Tech rapped a season-high 19 hits Friday and notched a 12-8 college baseball victory over Western Carolina in Cullowee, N.C.Freshman Josh Herman of Roanoke led the assault with three hits, including a two-run home run, as the Hokies (15-2) won their ninth straight game.
David Fitt had a solo homer among his three hits, and Mike Reedy and Fred Hatfield also collected three hits for Tech.
Relief pitcher Mark Thompson (2-0) tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory.
