HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE CHARGED IN ASSAULT
An all-state quarterback and basketball player at Roanoke's Patrick Henry High School has been charged in the assault of another student at the school. An assault and battery warrant has been obtained against 18-year-old Shannon Taylor.
Roanoke police acknowledged they received an assault complaint against Taylor from Alicia Renee Kasey, also 18. Taylor had not been arrested as of Friday afternoon.
Kasey told police that Taylor shoved her head into a locker and struck her on the left side of the face Tuesday in Persinger Hall on the Patrick Henry campus.
Kasey told police that Taylor accused her of talking about him.
Although police would not acknowledge that the warrant was issued, Kasey said it was sworn out the day of the alleged assault.
Taylor declined comment when contacted Friday afternoon.
Elizabeth Lee, the principal of Patrick Henry, said she was out of town and had no firsthand knowledge about the alleged assault.
