OBIT TURNER, ALEXANDER OLIVER
TURNER, Alexander Oliver, 87, of Roanoke, died Thursday, April 1, 1993, in
a Roanoke hospital. He was a member of Lakeland Lodge #190 A.F. & A.M. and was
retired from Miller & Rhodes after 25 years of service. Mr. Turner was also
retired from Southern Refrigeration after 15 years of service. He was preceded
in death by a son, William P. Turner. Surviving are his wife, Stewart B.
Turner, Roanoke; two sons, Howard and Stewart Turner, both of Roanoke; a
daughter and son-in-law, Betty T. and Ron Elliott, Vinton; a daughter-in-law,
Josephine S. Turner, Philadelphia, Pa.; stepdaughters and husbands, Carolyn C.
and Wilton Birdsong, Lenetta C. and Fenton Roudabush, both of Richmond; a
brother, Boyd Hemphill, Pennsylvania; ten grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 5, 1993, at
10 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Ken C. Emmerling officiating
with interment at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to the Hollins Rescue Squad #5, Barrens Rd., Roanoke. The family
will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Lotz Salem Chapel.
