OBIT REED, WILLIAM A. JR.
REED, William A. Jr. 50, of Houston, Texas, passed away Monday, March 29,
1993 in his home after two surgeries and an extended illness. Mr. Reed was
formerly of Radford, Va. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary. Mr. Reed
graduated from Radford High School in 1960. He attended Richmond Professional
Institute for two years studying art and drama. He also acted in Common Glory
in Williamsburg and in Summer Stock in Maine. He received a Fine Arts Degree
from Hofstra University in Long Island, New York, where he taught elementary
school. He later lived in London, England, where he worked for Vogue Magazine
for 14 years as a fashion promoter. His return to the states brought him to
Houston, where he worked as a fashion and style director for Ultra Magazine.
He is survived by his parents, William and Thelma (Pete and Tommie) Reed of
Radford; and two special friends; Felix Rhodes and Susanne Wilson of Houston,
Texas. A memorial service was held Wednesday evening at the Murphy Funeral
Home in Houston, Texas. A graveside service will be held Sunday 2 p.m. from
West View Cemetery in Radford with Rev. Joe Burton officiating. Friends may
call at the funeral home after 6:00 p.m. Saturday with the family receiving
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford is in charge of
arrangements.
