YOUNG-AMOS

Melissa Edwina Amos and Donnovan Maharis Young were married Saturday, April 3, 1993, in High Street Baptist Church. The officiating clergyman was the Rev. Noel C. Taylor. The reception was held at the Radisson Patrick Henry Hotel. The maid of honor was Stephanie E. Proctor of Brandywine, Md., a friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Viveca Y. Ware of Mitchellville, Md., the groom's sister; Sonya M. NcNeil and Karen Belcher both of Roanoke, and Abigail L. Perkins of Allegheny County, Virginia, all friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaids were Tynisha Steptoe of Roanoke, and Tiffany Amos of Rocky Mount, both cousins of the bride. The flowergirl was Tiffany Curtis of Roanoke, a friend of the bride. The best man was Jeffrey Hunter, of Columbia, S.C., the groom's cousin. The groomsmen were David Ware, Jr., the groom's nephew, and Edward Amos, Jr. of Roanoke, the bride's brother; Silas Young, III of Clinton, Md., cousin of the groom; and Jerry Powell of Christiansburg, a friend of the groom. The ushers were Douglas Ware of Mitchellville, Md., the groom's nephew; and Leonard Craggett, Jr. of Elliston, and Ronnie Saunders of Blacksburg, both cousins of the groom. The ringbearer was Aidan St.Clair of Roanoke, a friend of the groom. The wedding was directed by Bernice Stuart, and the guestbook was attended by Sophia Nelson. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Amos, Sr. of Roanoke. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School, James Madison University, and Washington and Lee University School of Law, and is employed by Gentry, Locke, Rakes & Moore. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Young of Elliston. He is a graduate of Shawsville High School, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and the Management Institute of Roanoke College, and is employed by Shenandoah Life Insurance Company. The newlyweds will live in Roanoke, after the wedding trip to the Caribbean.
