TECH HOLDS SPRING FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE
The passing of quarterback Maurice DeShazo and the running of tailbacks Ranall White and Tommy Edwards highlighted Virginia Tech's second scrimmage.DeShazo, who did not complete a pass in the first scrimmage last week, connected on 10 of 15 attempts for 119 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Still.
White rushed nine times for 57 yards and scored a touchdown on an 8-yard run. Edwards carried seven times for 34 yards and had scoring runs of 6 and 4 yards.
Reserve quarterback Jim Druckenmiller scored a touchdown on a 4-yard run and connected on nine of 18 passes for 41 yards. He threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Brian Edmonds, who rushed for 54 yards.
George DelRicco, bidding for a starting job at linebacker, was the top tackler in the scrimmage with five.
Three players, linebackers Ken Brown and Andy Miller and tackle Eugene Mays had four tackles each.
