TECH HOLDS SPRING FOOTBALL SCRIMMAGE

The passing of quarterback Maurice DeShazo and the running of tailbacks Ranall White and Tommy Edwards highlighted Virginia Tech's second scrimmage.

DeShazo, who did not complete a pass in the first scrimmage last week, connected on 10 of 15 attempts for 119 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Still.

White rushed nine times for 57 yards and scored a touchdown on an 8-yard run. Edwards carried seven times for 34 yards and had scoring runs of 6 and 4 yards.

Reserve quarterback Jim Druckenmiller scored a touchdown on a 4-yard run and connected on nine of 18 passes for 41 yards. He threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Brian Edmonds, who rushed for 54 yards.

George DelRicco, bidding for a starting job at linebacker, was the top tackler in the scrimmage with five.

Three players, linebackers Ken Brown and Andy Miller and tackle Eugene Mays had four tackles each.
