3 ESCAPE FROM YOUTH HOME; 1 CAPTURED

Police arrested one youth and were looking for two others after they escaped from a youth detention home late Friday.

Alexandria police said counselors at the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Home reported a brawl at the home at about 8:50 p.m. Friday. They said youths were throwing furniture in the central prisoner area or day room.

Three youths smashed a glass window between the day room and the control room, forcing counselors to retreat, police said.

The youths then forced open two secure doors and climbed a barbed wire fence to escape. - Associated Press
