OBIT STUART, WILLIAM THOMAS

STUART, William Thomas, 73, of Roanoke, died Saturday, April 3, 1993. He was a former resident of Stephens City, Warrenton and Vienna, Va. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Jo Stuart; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ron Cronise, Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Maria Stuart, Warrenton, Va.; and three grandsons, Chad and Jeffrey Cronise, and Devin Stuart. Also surviving are a brother and a sister-in-law, Edward and Edith Stuart, Marshall, Va.; and two sisters, Mary Neal Staats of Arlington, Va., Edna Foster of Mt. Airy, Md. He was greatly loved by his brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Sara Etta Witt of Fairmont, W.Va., Len L. and Bea Witt of Cincinnati, Ohio, Charles Witt of Nimacolin, Penn., Robert and Nancy Witt of Bath, N.Y., Anna Lee Beech of Falls Church, Va., John and Lou Ellen Griffin of Lake Wylie, S.C., and James Williams of Dunwoody, Ga.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Stuart was a retired plumbing design engineer and an associate of Glassman & LeReche Consulting Engineers of Falls Church and Washington, D.C. Throughout his years, he served the lord faithfully through the church, and remained an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church until his death. He was also active with Habitat for Humanity and Lutheran Family Services. Mr. Stuart was a former 4-H leader in Fairfax County, and was an avid gardener and fisherman. Memorial services will be held in Roanoke at St. John's Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. A memorial service in Warrenton, Va., will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Saturday, April 10, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow each memorial service in the church's social hall. Contributions may be made to the memorial fund at St. John's Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity, or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
