MARTINSVILLE GOLFERS 4TH; ROANOKE 5TH

Richmond North overcame a three-stroke deficit Sunday and won the Virginia State Golf Association Team Match at Stoney Creek Golf Club in Wintergreen.

Jerry Van Houten of the Dominion Club and Greg Bales of Hanover Country Club shot a 61 in the two-man captain's choice round to lead Richmond North, which finished with a 267 for a 557 total.

Northern Virginia was second with a 270 Sunday for a 560 total. Virginia Beach-Portsmouth was third at 564. Martinsville had a 302 in the four-ball round and shot a 270 in captain's choice for a 572. Roanoke had a 294 and a 282 for a 576 total.
