OBIT COPEHHAVER, GEORGE W.
COPEHHAVER, George W., 78, of Roanoke County, died Sunday, April 4, 1993,
at his home. He was a member of Melrose Baptist Church, was a retired employee
of N&W Railway, was a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was
past post commander of the American Legion No. 240, was a member of V.F.W.
Post No. 1841 Troutville, served as chairman of the Americanism Committee
Sixth District of Virginia, and was a present member of the American Legion
Post No. 3 Salem, and was a security officer for Blue Ridge Investigating
Service for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alma Weddle Copenhaver;
one son, George Worth Copenhaver, Roanoke; three daughters, Vickie C. Whitlock
of Pompono Beach, Fla., Judith C. Dulaney of Roanoke, Linda Kay Nemeth of
Salem; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will
be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, with the Rev.
Larry E. Sprouse and the Rev. E. Ray Frazier officiating. Burial will follow
in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roanoke
County No. 5 Rescue Squad, Hollins. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel
where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
