NAMES ON CAMPUS

HILARY LIPS, professor of psychology at Radford University, received a 1992 Distinguished Publication Award from the Association for Women in Psychology for her book "Women, Men, and Power." Lips was one of three authors honored. She also discussed her work at the association's annual conference.

\ ROBERT GILL, a political science professor, presented the paper "The Current Status of French in Quebec" at the Southwest Association for Canadian Studies annual meeting in Lafayette, La.

\ MICHAEL CRONIN, the oral communication program director, and RICK OLSEN JR., communication instructor, presented a paper at the 11th Annual Conference on Interactive Instruction Delivery in Orlando, Fla. Cronin also presented a program on interactive video instruction in listening at the annual conference of the International Listening Association in Memphis, Tenn.

\ ALAN FORREST, a counselor education professor, has been elected an officer of the Virginia Association of Marriage & Family Counselors, a new division of the Virginia Counselors Association.

\ STEVE AMES, a physical and health education professor, is president-elect for the Virginia Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.

\ LOUIS GALLO, professor of English, published the story "Still Life With Heating Pad" in GAIA: A Journal of Literary and Environmental Arts.

\ LYNN GORDON, professor of art, has had two paintings, "Red Bottle" and "Deserted House," selected for the Savannah National Exhibition, which runs through April 12 in Savannah, Ga.

\ JENNIFER SPOON, an art professor, had her work "Masked Woman," a collage of laser-printer and hand-tinted paper, accepted for the sixth National Computer Art Invitational of Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.

\ MYRL G. JONES, senior professor of English, has been named interim associate provost for the College of Global Studies. He will supervise academic planning during the next year.
