U.S. COAL PRODUCTION BEHIND LAST YEAR'S

Domestic coal production totaled 20 million tons during the week ending March 27, up 22 percent from the 16.3 million tons produced the previous week, the U.S. Department of Energy reported Monday.

The U.S. coal industry produced 21 million tons in the same week last year, according to the department's Energy Information Administration.

Domestic coal production so far this year is 240.3 million tons, about 6 percent behind last year's at this time. - Associated Press
