OBIT MOORE, DAISIE NEWMAN

MOORE, Daisie Newman, 65, of Salem, died Sunday, April 4, 1993, at her home. She was a native of Rural Retreat, and had been a Salem resident for many years. She had worked at Dominion Bank, and was a former school bus driver. She was also a faithful and active member of Central United Methodist Church in Salem. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia King Newman; her husband, Irby Moore; a daughter, Virginia Gay Moore; a brother, Roy Newman; and an infant son. Survivors include her father, Dallas R. Newman, Marion; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Joan Newman, Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Mary ("Sis") Brown, Wytheville; a sister-in-law, Helen Blackard Newman, Crockett, Va.; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews; and two uncles, Dr. John W. Newman of Roanoke, Garnett Newman of Chilhowie. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. A. Howell Franklin officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Black Lick Cemetery in Rural Retreat conducted by Pastor Edwood Schaack. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 Tuesday night, and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to the Black Lick Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 797, Wytheville, Va. John M. Oakey & Son Salem is in charge of arrangements.
