PATRICIA HOOKER, EX-JOURNALIST, DIES
Patricia F. Hooker, a former journalist with the Salem Times-Register and the Roanoke World-News, died Saturday. She was 66.Hooker, of Salem, worked for the Times-Register during the 1960s and 1970s, then briefly as a free-lance reporter for the women's pages of the World-News. She also worked for the Star, a tabloid-style newspaper that published briefly.
During the 1950s, she was involved with Showtimers.
Hooker's father, who died in 1951, was an editorial writer for the Richmond News Leader. Her husband, Zebulon V. Hooker III, is a retired Roanoke College English professor.
A private funeral service will be held. John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
