FIRST LADY'S FATHER DIES OF STROKE AT 82

Hugh Rodham, father of Hillary Rodham Clinton, died in a Little Rock, Ark., hospital late Wednesday, three weeks after suffering a stroke. He was 82.

His daughter and President Clinton were to fly to Little Rock this morning, White House spokeswoman Dee Dee Myers said. Funeral arrangements were pending.

Rodham, a retired Chicago-area businessman, was felled by a stroke on March 19. His daughter spent the first 16 days of his hospitalization in Little Rock.

Besides the first lady, Rodham is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and two sons, Hugh, 42 and Tony, 38, both of Miami.
