POWER-LINE DEBATE STARTS TONIGHT AT 7

A debate on Appalachian Power Co.'s proposed high-voltage power line is to take place at a Blue Ridge Environmental Network meeting tonight at 7 in Whitman Auditorium at Virginia Western Community College.

Bill Tanger will represent the Coalition for Energy and Economic Revitalization, a West Virginia-based pro-power-line group headed by an Apco employee. Jeff Janosko will represent the Roanoke County Preservation League, an organization of opponents of the line.

The network is an umbrella group for more than 30 Western Virginia organizations. Virginia's Explore Park will host the debate. Jim Baldwin, a Roanoke landscape architect, will be moderator.
