OBIT TARDY, EMMETT WILSON

TARDY, Emmett Wilson, 91, of Lexington, died Tuesday, April 6, 1993, at his residence. Mr. Tardy was born April 10, 1901, in Rockbridge Co., a son of the late John Oliver Tardy and Catherine Rader Tardy. He was a member of the Mountain City Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M. for 70 years, member of the Rural Letter Carriers of the United States Post Office, member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and a member of the Arcadia Tourist Club in Arcadia, Florida for more than 20 years. Mr. Tardy is survived by his wife, Mary T. Tardy, Lexington; a son, Willis Wilson Tardy, Castlewood; a daughter, Eleanor T. Lau, Blacksburg; three step-children, Mary C. Emore, Helen C. Ruley, both of Lexington, Gertrude C. Barbar, Sandstone; a brother, Harry L. Tardy, Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 9, 1993 at 2 p.m. from the graveside at the Oxford Presbyterian Cemetery, with the Rev. Barton Hellmuth officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 8 at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
