ROANOKER COMPETES IN NATIONAL SWIM MEET

Roanoke resident Scott Davies competed recently in the U.S. Swimming Association's national 18-and-under swim meet at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Davies, 17, a member of the Carter Center Aquatics Marlins, took 16th place in the nation in the 100-yard butterfly and 22nd in the 200-yard individual medley.

He also qualified to swim the 100-yard freestyle in the association's Summer Junior National meet in Orlando, Fla., in August.
