ROANOKE SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 1701 Memorial Ave. S.W., has scheduled its Easter program Saturday at 11 a.m. The service will include special music and a drama to commemorate the death and resurrection of Christ.\ A JOINT GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE with the Jerusalem and Morning Star Baptist congregations is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. at Morning Star church, 1513 Rorer Ave. S.W. The Rev. J. Eugene Young and the choir of Jerusalem church will lead worship. Communion will be served.
\ JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W., will have the Magic Star Chorus, the J. Eugene Young Mass Choir and the Senior Choir presenting special music at the Easter morning service at 11. That afternoon at 4, a dramatization of the Easter story will be featured at a Deacon and Deaconess Board program.
\ THE MAUNDY THURSDAY SERVICE tonight at Christ Episcopal Church, 1101 Franklin Road S.W., includes optional foot washing along with the traditional receiving of bread and wine. Worship will begin at 7:30.
Good Friday service will begin at 12:10 p.m. A nursery will be available.
The Great Vigil of Easter service Saturday night starts at 8 and will include bell ringing. Easter Sunday services are at 7, 9 and 11 a.m. with special music. A nursery is available for the two later services.
\ WESTHAMPTON CHRISTIAN CHURCH (Disciples of Christ), 2515 Grandin Road S.W., will observe Maundy Thursday tonight with a simulated Jewish Passover meal. It will begin at 7.
\ A BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS SERVICE will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. at Canine Complex, 3946 Electric Road S.W.
The service, led by the Rev. Dr. Robert T. Copenhaver of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem, permits pet owners to offer thanks for God's creatures, as set forth by the 12th century Christian St. Francis of Assisi.

\ ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, Elm at South Jefferson in downtown Roanoke, has scheduled Maundy Thursday services today at noon and 7:30 p.m.
Good Friday liturgy will be used at noon and 5:30 p.m. with worship on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Easter morning worship will be at 7, 9 and 11:15 a.m. with a nursery provided for the later services.
\ VIRGINIA HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2014 Memorial Ave. S.W., will present a Maundy Thursday drama, "Lord, Is it I?" tonight at 7:30. Based on the Leonardo da Vinci painting, the drama includes special music and speaking parts of the 12 disciples. The Lord's Supper will conclude the observance. A nursery will be provided.
\ AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 515 Third St. S.W., Roanoke, Charles Krause has been ordained to the Gospel ministry. He has been on the staff since 1977 as director of the church's orchestra and assistant in musical productions. Krause is one of nine men who direct specific ministries for the congregation.
\ REBECCA LEMON WALLENBORN, pianist, will perform April 18 at 10:45 a.m. at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church, 3591 Windsor Road S.W. The graduate of Hollins College and the University of Maryland will play works of J.S. Bach and Sergei Rachmaninoff on a grand piano recently given the church by a member.
\ SUMFUN, a reading incentive program for kindergarten and younger children, is open for registration. The two sessions will be held held at Christ Lutheran Church, 2011 Brandon Ave. S.W.
SUMFUN PLUS is a reading incentive program for children who have completed kindergarten. Sessions will be held Mondays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June 21 through Aug. 23. SUMFUN is for children ages 2 to 5 years old. Sessions are held from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 1 through Aug. 26.
