BOXER MORRISON WILL TRAIN AT VMI AGAIN
Boxer Tommy Morrison, a heavyweight contender, will return to VMI on April 18 to begin training for his June 7 bout with George Foreman in Las Vegas. Tom Virgets, former VMI boxing coach and physical education faculty member, serves as Morrison's trainer and will supervise his workouts at VMI, which will end May 31.
Franklin County Speedway's 1993 season will debut Saturday at 7 p.m. with the Charlotte Invitational 300. Cold weather postponed last week's scheduled opener. Admission is $5; children under eight get in free. Gates open at noon.
Dawn DeLong of Roanoke bowled a rare 700 series Thursday night in the Vinton Bowling Center's Vinton Waverly League. DeLong, who averages 181, had games of 234, 267 and 207 for a 708 series, her first over 700.
